Catching wind

Catching wind

How can we find the right wind, what secret signs do the skies hold for us, or what do the wearabouts of the landscape or animals tell about the wind. I will show a summary of my research.

Collection of old ducth wind sayings ->

The body and the wind are heavily intertwined, We can use our ears to feel wind direction, our noses to smell where it comes from and light breezes with the small hairs on our arms and legs.

Clouds can tell us what the weather will do in the next 48 hours, or show us current high winds that will influence the wind below drastically. Some of them give a hint towards calmer weather or announce a storm.

Trees are the best natural wind catchers, that also give a strong hint towards how fast the wind is blowing. Only moving leaves resemble a light breeze, moving twigs a moderate breeze and full branches a heavy breeze.
